Chief Executive Officer, BNY Mellon Investment Management
Mitchell Harris is Chief Executive Officer of BNY Mellon Investment Management, which includes the company’s asset management and wealth management businesses. Mitchell is a member of BNY Mellon’s Executive Committee and was appointed CEO of Investment Management in February 2016, having previously served as President since 2011. He also acted as interim head of BNY Mellon Asset Management in 2010.
Mitchell’s career in investment management and private banking spans over 30 years in a variety of executive leadership roles. From 2004 to 2009, Mitchell was Chairman and CEO of Standish Mellon Asset Management, a BNY Mellon fixed-income investment boutique. Prior to that he was CEO of Pareto Partners from 2000 to 2004, a currency management investment business of BNY Mellon. He joined Pareto as Managing Partner in 1993 and also served as Chairman of the business from 2001 to 2004.
Mitchell joined Pareto having spent 14 years at Citibank, where he managed the firm’s Private Bank business in Frankfurt, Germany. Among his roles there, Mitchell managed the offshore banking, investment trust and treasury business for Citibank’s European Private Bank in the Channel Islands; and managed European Mutual Fund distribution and marketing for the London Private Bank of Citibank.
Mitchell holds a Master of Public Administration (MPA), and a BA in Political Science and History from the State University of New York at Albany.
