BNY Mellon has recently been recognized as a leader in sustainability and climate change responsibility by two highly regarded indices. For the second year in a row, we received perfect scores from CDP on climate change disclosure and performance. Our “A” grade for performance and perfect 100 for disclosure gives us the distinction of being the only U.S. financial company and one of only two S&P 500 companies to achieve the top score for two consecutive years.
“Our continued excellence on CDP’s S&P 500 Climate Indices results from our significant cuts in carbon emissions and energy use.”
Our continued excellence on CDP’s S&P 500 Climate Indices results from our significant cuts in carbon emissions and energy use, as well as our progress in disclosing potential climate change risks and opportunities throughout our business and supply chain.
Our recognition by CDP comes on the heels of being one of only 11 diversified financial companies selected for the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World) in 2014. We were also named to the Dow Jones Sustainability North America Index (DJSI North America) for the second consecutive year.
DJSI tracks the stock performance of leading sustainability-driven businesses globally. Sustainability leaders are chosen based on a rigorous approach that identifies companies that outperform their peers in sustainability categories, including, but not limited to social performance, environmental efforts, corporate governance and labor practices.
We’re committed to positively affecting our employees, clients, communities and global financial markets through our responsible business practices. The continued honors from respected industry organizations confirm that our focus on social responsibility and environmental stewardship benefits our stakeholders and society.
