HONG KONG, February 24, 2016 — BNY Mellon is the sponsor of the 2016 Corporate LGBT Workplace Inclusion Initiative Award which is designed to recognize corporate initiatives that have had a significant and positive impact in promoting LGBT workplace inclusion in Hong Kong. Nominations will be accepted until Friday 26 February 2016. Companies may submit more than one nomination.
The Corporate LGBT Workplace Inclusion Initiative Award is one of several key categories that make up the 2016 Hong Kong LGBT Inclusion Awards led by Community Business, a not-for-profit organization promoting responsible and inclusive business and Asia’s Diversity & Inclusion thought leaders. The Hong Kong LGBT Inclusion Awards are the only awards honoring and celebrating LGBT inclusion in Hong Kong. To ensure impartiality, the category sponsors may not enter the category for which they are the title sponsor.
“We commend BNY Mellon for demonstrating their global leadership and commitment to promoting LGBT inclusion in Hong Kong and around the world,” said Mrs. Fern Ngai, CEO of Community Business. “The corporate sector has an influential role to play - particularly in terms of driving change within their organizations. We are pleased to have BNY Mellon’s support as we recognize and celebrate the business community’s commitment to workplace inclusion.”
Nominations will be assessed on the extent to which the company’s LGBT workplace initiative is strategic, proactive, impactful and sustainable. Community Business will establish a shortlist of potential honorees. These finalists will be assessed by a panel of external judges, including a senior executive from BNY Mellon.
“BNY Mellon is pleased to join Community Business to champion the increasingly important role businesses play in cultivating safe and inclusive environments for talent,” said Steve Lackey, BNY Mellon’s Chairman of Asia Pacific. "We believe diverse and inclusive environments that foster an open workplace and encourage creative thinking provide a competitive edge for global talent. Through this award we celebrate LGBT-inclusive workplace leaders in Hong Kong."
The shortlisted finalists will be announced in April 2016. The award winners will be announced during the 2016 Hong Kong LGBT Inclusion Awards Gala Dinner on Tuesday 17 May 2016 in commemoration of the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia (IDAHOT). The Gala Dinner is also a fundraising event to ensure the on-going sustainability of Community Business’ work to promote LGBT inclusion in Hong Kong and across the Asia region.
