JULY 12, 2023

For the fourth consecutive year, BNY Mellon scored 100 percent on the Index and is included on a list of “Best Places to Work for Disability Inclusion.” The firm was named to the 2023 Disability Equality Index (DEI), a prominent benchmarking tool utilized by Fortune 1000 companies to assess their commitment to disability workplace inclusion in comparison to industry peers.

“The Disability Equality Index holds companies accountable by measuring the actions and initiatives in place to achieve an inclusive and equitable workplace culture for all employees,” said Hani Kablawi, Head of International and Executive Sponsor of our Employee/Business Resource Group, HEART, which aims to elevate awareness of disabilities and promotes a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment where all employees feel included. “It makes me especially proud that our firm is recognized as a leader in this space for the fourth year in a row. This recognition will push us to uphold our high standards and continue to advance disability inclusion to ensure everyone feels like they belong at BNY Mellon.”

In 2023, 485 corporations, including 71 Fortune 100, 207 Fortune 500 and 249 Fortune 1000, utilized the DEI to benchmark their disability inclusion efforts. About the Disability Equality Index (DEI)

The Disability Equality Index (DEI) is a comprehensive benchmarking tool that helps companies build a roadmap of measurable, tangible actions that they can take to achieve disability inclusion and equality. Each company receives a score, on a scale of zero (0) to 100, with those earning 80 and above recognized as a “Best Place to Work for Disability Inclusion”.

The DEI is a joint initiative of the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD), the nation’s largest disability rights organization, and Disability:IN, the global business disability inclusion network, to collectively advance the inclusion of people with disabilities. The organizations are complimentary and bring unique strengths that make the project relevant and credible to corporations and the disability community. The tool was developed by the DEI Advisory Committee, a diverse group of business leaders, policy experts, and disability advocates. Learn more at: www.DisabilityEqualityIndex.org.
