Karen Newball is part of the Risk Management Team for Global Banks, responsible for executing the credit strategy for international customers to whom BNY Mellon extends credit in Latin America and Middle East. Her main focus is on supporting credit requests for banks in a manner consistent with the Risk Appetite of the Company, while developing and maintaining ongoing dialogue with Global Client Management and other business units in MEA and LATAM, providing the risk strategy and developing pro-active discussions around how the risk parameters will be implemented in the region.
With more than 10 years of experience in the banking industry, managing customer relations and marketing-selling wide range of financial products and services in diverse lines, Karen has developed the skills that are effective at satisfying customers, identifying key risk elements, increasing revenues and executing business plans. Furthermore, Karen’s extensive career has given her broad knowledge of the emerging market needs as well as the capability to identify profitable clients and develop sales opportunities, while ensuring risk and regulatory standards and delivering a sense of quality that set the stage for long term success.
Prior to joining BNY Mellon, Karen was Assistant Vice-President at HSBC Bank Panama and Banco Latinoamericano de Exportaciones (BLADEX-multilateral Bank). Her experience is as diverse as being a Credit Analyst, to being the Client Relationships Manager with customers throughout Latin America and the Caribbean Regions. She also worked as a Global Market Sales Manager in HSBC Bank Panama.
Karen graduated from Baruch College obtaining a Post Graduate Finance and Investment Certificate Program. Karen holds Master in Strategic Management from the Catholic University of Panama. She is a member of Women Initiatives Network (WIN) in various chapters, IMPACT, active member of Junior Achievement International and ALPHA.
