As part of the 60th anniversary celebration of BNY Mellon in Hong Kong, BNY Mellon proudly presents the Liminal Encounters Augmented Reality Exhibition.
Founded and sponsored by BNY Mellon, organized by Asia Society Hong Kong Center, the Liminal Encounters Augmented Reality Exhibition presents five artworks from the BNY Mellon art and artifacts collection virtually and three installations from Hong Kong artists. The exhibition breaks away from the traditional museum setting and is presented as an inspiring journey experience. The art ranges from works on paper, photography, moving image, sculpture, to installation. Each has an augmented reality (AR) component that can be experienced through the Liminal Encounters BNY Mellon mobile app, using a smart device.
“We believe that diverse perspectives fuel innovative thinking, and we hope that each time somebody sees our collection they will learn something new, not only about the collection but about the way we think as a company.”Brian Lang, Curator, BNY Mellon Art Collection
BNY Mellon’s collections reflect our heritage, culture and values. We believe that diverse perspectives fuel innovative thinking. Our collection spans 4 centuries, features artists of more than 30 nationalities and is on view in 15 countries.
The overlap between the virtual and physical worlds. Artworks selected in the Liminal Encounters Augmented Reality Exhibition explore the theme of how technology can be a tool that enables us to straddle the real and the virtual, and understand our current world in flux.
