The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation ("BNY Mellon") announced today that it has again been named to the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI).
BNY Mellon was named by S&P Global as an index component of the 2021 Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) for the eighth consecutive year. The company is included in the Dow Jones Sustainability North America Index, reinforcing the priority BNY Mellon places on environmental, social and governance (ESG) criteria. The index family tracks the stock performance of the world's leading companies in terms of economic, environmental and social criteria.
One of the most highly regarded global sustainability indices, issued jointly by S&P Dow Jones Indices and SAM, the DJSI are a family of best-in-class benchmarks for investors who have recognized that sustainable business practices are critical to generating long-term shareholder value and who wish to reflect their sustainability convictions in their investment portfolios.
"We congratulate Bank of New York Mellon for being included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) for North America,” says Manjit Jus, Global Head of ESG Research, S&P Global. “A DJSI distinction is a reflection of being a sustainability leader in your industry. The record number of companies participating in the 2021 S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment is testament to the growing movement for ESG disclosure and transparency.”
“We are pleased once again to be included on the DJSI North America Index. BNY Mellon is committed to putting the Future FirstSM by using our global reach, influence and resources not just to power success today, but to help safeguard the future,” says Jolen Anderson, BNY Mellon Global Head of Human Resources. “This recognition reinforces our strategic direction and reaffirms BNY Mellon’s important role in ensuring our industry is continually rising to meet the challenges associated with ESG issues such as climate change.”
