As part of our Workplace Excellence (WE) Program, many of our people in Houston have adopted a flexible work arrangement that is enhancing their productivity, while boosting energy and resiliency.
As part of BNY Mellon’s Workplace Excellence (WE) Program, our Houston office launched a new workplace model to further support employee work-life quality and maximize use of existing office space. Nearly 200 of our people based in Houston qualified for a flexible work arrangement, part-time or full-time, based on their roles. When on site, participants make use of collaborative spaces and, when off site, they work from locations convenient to them, such as their homes. The WE program models the workplace of the future and upholds our quality standards for excellence and high performance. The WE proposition is also a key driver in retaining and attracting top talent.
WE participants work a regular business day – in the office or at an alternate location. As the full staff is neither in the office nor working remotely on any given day, desk-sharing is possible. When off site, participants are available via instant messaging, email and/or phone during working hours. The alternate workplace must include a safe location and enable participants to safeguard confidential information; be an environment free from distractions and noise; and accommodate a company laptop and reliable Internet connection. How’s the program working? Several WE program participants have let us know the flexible work arrangement allows them to improve their focus. While the interaction at the office is enjoyable and helpful for many types of projects, some kinds of work require a quieter environment. WE offers our people the option to work from a location with fewer interruptions. WE also boosts energy and resiliency, enabling our people to pursue a productive and balanced life.
