Here to Serve

Social responsibility is deeply woven into our business strategy and culture.

A Central Role

As a global investments company, we play an essential role in supporting markets, empowering our communities and promoting sustainable practices. Our thinking, skills and resources can help investors intelligently finance solutions for the world’s most pressing issues and make our local communities better places to live and work.

Volunteering and Philanthropy

Outside of their daily work responsibilities, our people find ways to share their skills and expertise to make humanitarian and social impact through pro bono volunteerism and personal donations. Every year, more than 20,000 BNY Mellon people participate in “Powering Potential,” our global philanthropy program.

Social Finance

As beneficiaries of a long and prosperous legacy, we understand the importance of strong stewardship and continue to think about the potential for investments to enable positive change.

Social Innovation

UpPrize, our social innovation challenge, was piloted in 2015. Its mission is to encourage impact investing in Southwestern Pennsylvania, linking the private sector with Pittsburgh region nonprofits to identify breakthrough innovations that address critical needs and also produce meaningful and measurable financial results.

Commitment to Environmental Sustainability

We’re committed to advocating for climate change action. Environmental responsibility isn’t a separate strategy or decision; it’s a key part of our commitment to being invested in integrity and contributing to the health and resiliency of global financial markets.

Human Rights Advocacy

We work to preserve human rights throughout our company and our supply chain. We also look for ways to contribute to global initiatives on human rights, serving as a positive influence within our industry and beyond.
