Vice President and Head of Supply Diversity

Scott Golla is BNY Mellon’s Vice President in the Business and Environmental Sustainability function. Among other responsibilities, he serves as the company’s Head of Supplier Diversity, where he is responsible for supplier diversity program strategy, integration, and performance. He is a strong advocate for entrepreneurs, Environmental-Social-Governance (ESG) investing, corporate sustainability and social responsibility (CSR) across the value chain. He is actively involved in differentiating the company through initiatives aimed at improving its environmental and social performance globally, engaging the unique value added contributions of diverse suppliers, and integrating innovations into business activities.

Scott has over 25 years of experience in corporate environmental and sustainability management across many industries. Prior to joining BNY Mellon, he served as the Director, Corporate Sustainability at U.S. Steel Corporation, and in a similar capacity at Westinghouse Electric Company (a Toshiba Group Company). Prior to Westinghouse, he worked in several management consulting roles across several types of industrial operations and business segments, and has developed a broad vision of how the private sector can make significant environmental and social contributions.

Scott offers the right balance of technical, financial, and people skills to drive positive impact for organization operations by building accountability systems, engaging stakeholders, managing risks, increasing efficiencies, and fueling innovation to achieve business goals and increase mutual value. He demonstrates a strong commitment to team dynamics, creating and integrating metrics that empower sustainability improvement and innovative programs that increase value. He has applied his collaboration, communication, and financial skills in many capacities at professional and non-profit organizations including the National Minority Supplier Development Council, the Financial Services Roundtable for Supplier Diversity and several other supplier diversity advocacy organizations, plus the Air & Waste Management Association, Green Building Alliance and several other sustainability focused organizations.

Scott has an MBA in finance from Duquesne University, and a B.S. in Environmental Resource Management from The Pennsylvania State University. He shares his knowledge and passion for sustainability and CSR through outreach with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, the STEM programs of local schools, and through projects and collaborations with the Sustainability-MBA program at Duquesne University, and the Falk School of Sustainability at Chatham University. Scott firmly believes in the business case for sustainable decision-making and strives daily to integrate his environmental, supplier diversity, and financial background into many other functions of the organization.
