A member of BNY Mellon’s Operating Committee, James (“Jim”) Malgieri heads the Collateral Management and Segregation businesses of BNY Mellon Markets which delivers these services to institutional investors and intermediaries worldwide. BNY Mellon is a leader and innovator in the collateral management and segregation businesses and has developed service solutions that have become the industry model.
Jim joined The Bank of New York in 2002, before its merger with Mellon in 2007. Jim has over 30 years of securities operations experience. In his prior role at BNY Mellon, Jim held the position of CEO of BDS which delivered Clearance & Collateral Management services to the Broker Dealer community. Prior to that he was the Global Product Manager for Collateral Management in BDS. Before joining the Company in 2002, he was a Senior Vice President in Lehman Brothers’ prime broker services area for two years focusing on client service, hedge fund support, and product development. Prior to joining Lehman Jim held various management roles at Chase Manhattan Bank, Morgan Stanley, and Cantor Fitzgerald.
Jim has been a member of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York’s Tri-Party Repo Infrastructure Task Force, the Securities Industry Association’s (SIA) Ad Hoc Prime Broker Committee, the DTCC’s Prime Broker Working Group, SIA’s Operations Committee, and various committees at the Bond Market Association and Emerging Markets Clearing Corporation (the SIA and Bond Market Association combined to form SIFMA). He was also a past Board member of BNY Mellon Clearing International Limited and the Government Securities Clearing Corporation (now the FICC).
Jim is a member of the New York City Council at St. Joseph’s University, a member of the Board of Visitors for the Erivan K. Haub School of Business at St. Joseph's University and an advisor to the Dean of the Stillman School of Business at Seton Hall University.
Jim graduated Magna Cum Laude from Seton Hall University with a Bachelor of Science in Finance. He is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma.
