Francis “Frank” La Salla is the Chief Executive Officer of BNY Mellon’s Corporate Trust business, a role he assumed in May 2017. He oversees a staff of nearly 3,300 in 51 offices and 16 countries who, together, service $11 trillion in total outstanding debt for clients. Corporate Trust provides administration and management services for all major debt categories across conventional, structured finance and specialty debt
Prior to his current role, Frank was chief executive officer of BNY Mellon’s Global Structured Products and Alternative Investment Services business.
Frank is a member of BNY Mellon’s Senior Leadership Team and represents BNY Mellon on the boards of Euroclear Plc. and Euroclear SA.
Previously, Frank was managing director and member of the Executive Committee of Pershing LLC, a BNY Mellon company, where he was co-head of Global Client Relationships as well as head of Pershing’s Trading Services. He was also chairman of Pershing Ltd. (UK).
Frank was responsible for all of Pershing’s business activities outside the United States. This included Pershing’s business units in the United Kingdom (Pershing Ltd.); Ireland (Pershing Securities Int’l Ltd.); Singapore (Pershing Securities Pvt. Ltd.); Canada (Pershing Securities Canada Ltd.); Australia (Pershing Securities Australia Pty. Ltd.); and all of the international broker-dealers and financial institutions conducting business on Pershing’s U.S. platform. Frank was also responsible for Pershing’s corporate development activity.
Prior to BNY Mellon’s acquisition of Pershing in May, 2003, Frank was president and chief operating officer of BNY Clearing Services LLC. Frank was previously CEO of BHF Securities Corporation, the U.S. broker-dealer subsidiary of Germany’s BHF Bank AG. Under his direction, BHF Securities grew into a highly specialized firm, providing domestic and international execution and clearing services for broker-dealers, investment banks, money managers, and institutional investors.
From 1989 to 1994, he was Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of Societe Generale Securities, where he was responsible for developing the French financial institution’s U.S. brokerage business.
Frank has numerous industry registrations as well as a defined expertise in international equities trading and foreign exchange. He has been a guest on financial news programs on CNBC, Fox News, CNN, and Bloomberg radio. In addition, he is an active member on the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Inc. (FINRA)’s Board of Arbitrators.
Frank earned a B.S. (Economics) from City University of New York, an M.B.A. (Finance) from Wagner College, and an M.A. (Theology) from Fordham University.
