Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive has prompted many fund managers to conduct a detailed review of their existing distribution strategies. Are you ready?
The Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive (AIFMD) EU Directive, from July 2013, increases transparency of Alternative Investment Funds (AIFs), essentially hedge funds and private equity funds. It also covers firms who are managing or marketing AIFs in the EU wherever they are based. Essentially, if countries comply with the AIFMD requirements, the firms are granted a ‘passport’ allowing them to transact business across the EU.
