BNY Mellon Investment Management Expands Retirement Team

Hebert and Schmiesing to focus on expanding market share and delivering tailored client experience


NEW YORK, July 7, 2015 – BNY Mellon Investment Management, announced today it has added Peter Hebert and Alexander Schmiesing to its retirement team to expand the group's business development capabilities and support ongoing growth.

Hebert, Senior Vice President, will be responsible for business development with a dedicated focus on strategic defined contribution record keepers and insurance sub-advisory opportunities. Schmiesing, Vice President, will be responsible for business development with an emphasis on national record keepers and variable annuity providers.

Hebert has extensive experience in the retirement investment-only and insurance sub-advised marketplace, having worked with a variety of institutional investors including insurance companies, mutual funds, supermarkets, wire houses and broker-dealers. He joins BNY Mellon Retirement from Sentinel Investments, where he most recently led Defined Contribution Investment Only and Sub-advisory efforts and served on the management team of Sentinel’s distribution company. He was also previously a vice president in the Strategic Alliances group at Pioneer Investments and held top sales and sales management posts at IXIS Asset Management Advisors, CIGNA Retirement & Investment Services and State Street Global Advisors.

Schmiesing, who holds both the CIMA® and ChFC® designations, joined BNY Mellon in 2014 and prior to this appointment was a Vice President in the Insurance Division. His prior experience includes sales and marketing positions at Sun Life Financial, The Hartford and Prudential. In these roles, his responsibilities included creating and implementing marketing strategies across distribution channels, through which he consistently posted strong sales growth.

Both Hebert and Schmiesing will report to Tripp Braillard, Chief Operating Officer, Retirement Distribution.
