Congratulations to Yvette Forrester, Company Secretary in the legal department of our London office, who has been shortlisted by leading professional women’s network WeAreTheCity for their annual Rising Star award.
The WeAreTheCity awards, which recognise the wealth of female talent in the UK, received over 950 nominations for the 2016 Rising Star awards spanning 260 companies.
Voting is currently underway and closes on May 27, 2016 at midnight. Winners will be chosen by a panel of judges who will take into account the number of public votes received by the nominees. To vote for Yvette, please click here under the Banking shortlist category.
Yvette has been shortlisted for many reasons. In addition to her great work supporting corporate governance in EMEA, Yvette has previously co-chaired our London Community Partnership programme, encouraging volunteer and fundraising experiences in communities where BNY Mellon employees live and work. For the last four years she has also served in the leadership team of IMPACT EMEA, one of our employee resource groups, most recently as co-chair of IMPACT EMEA’s Strategic Change work stream.
IMPACT plays an important role in supporting BNY Mellon's commitment to drive diversity and inclusion in the workplace, with a specific emphasis on the recruitment, retention, professional development and advancement of multicultural employees.
Yvette is also a strong advocate for women in the city, and having recently completed her MSc in Corporate Governance she wrote her dissertation on institutional obstacles preventing women from gaining senior roles. She subsequently presented her findings at BNY Mellon in December 2015 as part of the Legal Diversity and Inclusion programme.
Outside of BNY Mellon, Yvette is a mentor with City Parents, Inspiring the Future, Girls Network and 30% Club’s Sports & Business group.
The winners will be announced on June 6, 2016.
