Michael Cole-Fontayn, chairman of Europe, Middle East and Africa and member of the corporate executive and operating committees at BNY Mellon, has been named Chairman of the Board for the Association for Financial Markets in Europe (AFME).
Prior to his election to the role at the Association’s annual general meeting in London, Cole-Fontayn served as both Treasurer and a member of AFME’s Executive Committee.
“Michael has been a very engaged member of the Board since 2011, with an acute understanding of the relationship between flourishing capital markets and economic growth,” said Simon Lewis, AFME Chief Executive. “I look forward to working with him to drive this agenda further.”
“AFME and its members are committed to working with regulators in shaping Europe’s capital markets in support of the European Commission’s economic and employment growth agenda,” said Michael Cole-Fontayn. “I am delighted to continue this important work.”
Cole-Fontayn succeeds Frédéric Janbon of BNP Paribas, who has completed his two year term. “On behalf of the Board, I want to thank Frédéric for his tremendous commitment and leadership over the last two years,” he said. “During his tenure, AFME has become a stronger voice for the financial industry, respected across Europe and globally.”
