This summer, BNY Mellon Summer Analyst Program (SAP) interns from our Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Jersey City, New Jersey Innovation Centers teamed up for the first-ever “SAP_Hack_2017” Hackathon event. Teams composed of 5-10 SAP interns from a pool of 40 Pittsburgh and 30 Jersey City participants leveraged our developer toolkit to create solutions focused on simplifying administrative tasks, making data more accessible, or exploring new ways for BNY Mellon employees to connect through the company's intranet platform.
“SAP_Hack_2017 really brought the intern cohort together,” said Lorraine Yerger, Summer Analyst, BNY Mellon, Client Technology Solutions. “We were able to use the skills we learned to let our imagination run wild and hack together something awesome for BNY Mellon.”
The winning Pittsburgh team, “Parker's Diamonds,” created an app that scans QR codes to file maintenance requests with more efficiency, accuracy, and simplicity. The winning Jersey City team, “MySkill,” created an app to make it easier to discover employees with key skills for particular projects.
