BNY Mellon joins London firms to mark City Giving Day

On September 30, 2015, businesses across the City of London united to promote and celebrate the best of CSR and philanthropy in the city.

City Giving Day, run by The Lord Mayor’s Appeal, celebrates giving in all its forms and encourages companies to support the Lord Mayor’s Appeal and celebrate their own charity and community achievements.

This year, nearly 3,000 BNY Mellon employees joined together to show their support by wearing red in a dress-down day to raise funds for the appeal. They also took part in a food donation drive for one of our primary charity partners, FareShare.

Michael Cole-Fontayn, EMEA Chairman of BNY Mellon, joined the 6:00 a.m. outreach team from St Mungo’s Broadway and supported them in meeting with homeless people in the City to determine whether they would benefit from any additional services for physical or mental health. City Giving Day falls at the center of BNY Mellon’s annual Community Partnership Campaign which celebrates the company’s employee fundraising and volunteering program. While the program is open to employees year-round, September and October mark a time when employees are encouraged to participate and give back to their local communities.
