"I joined BNY Mellon because I was looking for new challenges in the Compliance function, especially on international aspects."
We believe the greatest investment we make is in our people. Get to know the men and women who make BNY Mellon a world-class financial institution. Meet Francois, who heads Compliance efforts in Frankfurt, Germany.
I’m in Compliance and Ethics, a division of Risk & Compliance. Specifically, I am heading the Compliance team in Frankfurt. We are responsible for ensuring that external and internal rules and regulations are adhered to in the Bank. What I like most about our group is that we face new challenges on a day-to-day basis and that we have to find the adapted solutions to them.
I spend the majority of my time giving advice to local departments/to the local management on Compliance related questions. Some of those questions are very challenging as the answer to them is not always the result of a standardized process.
My day to day activities focus on the prevention of financial crime (including Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Bribery and Corruption), data protection and the identification of new regulations which could become relevant for our local activities.
The interaction with the regulators and with our colleagues locally and internationally is a very interesting part of my job.
After further developing my management skills during the five next years, I can imagine undertaking after this time a position with more management responsibilities while still working on international activities.
