BNY Mellon Recognized for Championing a Culture of Inclusion and Equity

BNY Mellon earns high scores for inclusive practices by leading indices.

For the 15th consecutive year, BNY Mellon has received a score of 100 on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s 2022 Corporate Equality Index, the nation’s foremost benchmarking survey and report measuring corporate policies and practices related to LGBTQ+ workplace equality. BNY Mellon’s efforts and achievements also earned the designation as one of the Best Places to Work for LGBTQ+ Equality.


This is also the fifth year in a row that BNY Mellon is included in the Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index (GEI), a leading indicator aimed at increasing transparency surrounding gender-related practices and policies at publicly listed companies. Those included on the 2022 index scored at or above a global threshold established by Bloomberg to reflect disclosure and the achievement or adoption of best-in-class statistics and policies.

The results of the 2022 CEI showcase how 1,271 U.S.-based companies are promoting LGBTQ+-friendly workplace policies in the U.S., with more than half working to advance LGBTQ+ inclusion on a global level. This year’s CEI reflects growth across every measurement category, from the adoption of inclusive non-discrimination policies, to equitable healthcare benefits for transgender employees. BNY Mellon joins the ranks of over 840 major U.S. businesses that also earned top marks this year.

The CEI rates companies on detailed criteria falling under four central pillars:

  • Non-discrimination policies across business entities;
  • Equitable benefits for LGBTQ+ workers and their families;
  • Supporting an inclusive culture; and,
  • Corporate social responsibility.
