BNY Mellon Receives The Hong Kong LGBT+ Inclusion Index’s Gold Standard

JULY 3, 2017

BNY Mellon was awarded with a Gold Standard in The Hong Kong LGBT+ Inclusion Index for its work in creating an inclusive workplace for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) employees. Having been awarded the Bronze Standard in 2015, this awarding of Gold recognizes the sustained efforts by BNY Mellon to foster a LGBT friendly workplace.

The Index, launched by Community Business, is the first benchmark on LGBT+ workplace inclusion practices and initiatives in Asia. The initiative provides organizations in Hong Kong with a credible and robust tool to assess progress and promote their efforts towards LGBT+ inclusion.

BNY Mellon was among the first companies in Hong Kong to participate in the Index when Community Business launched its initiative in 2015. With the awarding of the Gold Standard, BNY Mellon now ranks as one of the top 12 employers for LBGT inclusion.

“We continue to be invested in creating an inclusive workplace for our people,” said Sammi Cho, Chief Operating Officer, APAC and Chief Executive, Hong Kong branch at BNY Mellon. “LGBT inclusion initiatives have been a primary focus for BNY Mellon through PRISM, our employee resource group that promotes an open and supportive environment for LGBT employees. We are very proud to achieve the Gold Standard this year and it is a testament to our employees that the support for LGBT inclusion runs through the whole company.”

Earlier this year, BNY Mellon joined 74 other organizations in Hong Kong to support a call for the introduction of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex anti-discrimination legislation in the city.
