BNY Mellon Receives Award from American Red Cross in Honor of Nearly Four Decades of Philanthropy

FEBRUARY 22, 2023

BNY Mellon has been honored with the American Red Cross Corporate Leadership Award for our dedication to giving back and making an impact in our community through philanthropy. Jolen Anderson, Global Head of Human Resources, Corporate Responsibility, and Philanthropy, accepted the award on behalf of the bank at the American Red Cross Heroes Among Us Gala  in New York City on Feb. 15.

Watch a short video featuring BNY Mellon's Jolen Anderson talking about the many ways the firm and our people make a positive impact in our communities and the world.

“Our work with the American Red Cross spans nearly four decades,” Ms. Anderson said. “We are proud of our role in supporting the American Red Cross’ vital recovery efforts, which have helped so many people in need to rebuild their lives in times of crisis."

While the American Red Cross and BNY Mellon have worked together to support many causes and relief efforts throughout the years, here are some recent examples of the impact made through this longstanding collaboration:

  • BNY Mellon committed a corporate donation and employee contribution match to support the American Red Cross’ Hurricanes 2022 Relief Fund, which actively provided aid to areas devasted by Hurricane Fiona and Ian.

  • Amid the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan, BNY Mellon and the American Red Cross in 2021 facilitated a grant to the International Committee of the Red Cross to deliver humanitarian aid and support relief work in the region to meet the urgent medical needs of people – many of them children – injured by heavy fighting and displaced by the conflict.
