James S. (“Jim”) Wiener is a Senior Executive Vice President of BNY Mellon and the Chief Investment Officer. He is also a member of the Company’s Executive Committee. Reporting to BNY Mellon’s Chief Financial Officer he is responsible for managing the Company’s approximately $150BN Investment Portfolio, as well as, the strategy for committing its balance-sheet across all assets and liabilities including managing its commitment of all types of credit facilities, implementing the framework for risk-adjusted optimization of capital and with the Group Treasurer managing the Asset/Liability Management function From 2014 through 2019 James was the Chief Risk Officer of the Company where he reported to BNY Mellon's Chief Executive Officer and the Board of Directors' Risk Committee. As Chief Risk Officer, he oversaw the compliance, credit, operational and market risk functions.
James is also the CEO and a member of the Board of Directors of BNY Mellon, NA. He is a Board member of BNY Mellon Government Securities Clearing Corporation. He previously has served as a Board member of BNY Mellon SANV.
James joined BNY Mellon in 2014 from Oliver Wyman Group, where he was senior partner and leader of the North American Public Policy Practice and a member of the firm’s management committee. James joined Oliver Wyman in 1994, and held a series of increasingly senior roles, including senior partner and leader of the North American Finance and Risk Management Practice, the firm’s largest practice area globally.
He earned a B.A. in physics from the University of Pennsylvania and a Ph.D. in physics from Princeton University.
