and Community Impact

A Legacy of Impact

A spirit of citizenship and service has inspired our philanthropic work for more than two centuries. Today, we mobilize the resources of our company and the talents of our employees to make a positive impact in the communities where we live and work.

Building the Workforce of the Future

We connect some of society’s most underserved communities with training and education in technology and business skills to help prepare them for employment in the digital age.

By investing in the development of people’s technology and business skills, we believe we can contribute to improving their lives today and equip them to shape the economy of the world tomorrow. Whether creating pathways to technology careers for diverse youth, engaging in STEM education or upskilling adults for more meaningful and better-paying work, we're helping to prepare communities for the workforce of the future.

Partnering with CUNY to Advance STEM Education

The BNY Mellon Foundation has awarded a $1 million grant to The City University of New York (CUNY) to provide financial support to high-achieving, low-income students and help raise graduation rates for recipients.

This scholarship program is a first for the BNY Mellon Foundation and we’re honored to embark on this partnership with CUNY...

Employees in Action

We invite employees at all levels of the company to make a difference by participating in our global Community Impact programs. Eligible employees may take up to three days of paid volunteer time per year and receive company-matching donations for their time. BNY Mellon also incentivizes charitable donations to nonprofits by matching their employees’ donations.

Since the program’s 2008 launch, BNY Mellon employees have volunteered more than 1 million hours, valued at more than $20 million, with employee donations and company matching accounting for more than $160 million to nonprofit organizations around the globe.

Support for Eligible Organizations

BNY Mellon will consider support for organizations that fit within our funding priorities and the company’s geographical footprint. In the United States, the organization must have an IRS designation of 501(c)(3). Organizations in other countries must meet requirements for their respective country’s governance.
