Caring for Our People

June 2021

When COVID-19 upended the world of work, we transformed the employee experience.

Our people provide the power that fuels our business, so when the COVID-19 pandemic transformed the world of work, we found a multitude of ways to help them thrive physically, mentally and socially.

Through a Supporting You Now framework, we demonstrated and facilitated access to the many existing and new benefits available to help employees cope with childcare, emotional stress, healthcare issues and other demands. During a digitally dependent time, record numbers of employees working from home logged into a digital app to join virtual yoga classes, participate in health habit challenges and more. We introduced a digital stress management program that provided a daily Cup of Calm, Breathe activity and other personalized tips for managing day-to-day anxiety, and launched an “It’s OK” campaign to align with World Mental Health Day.

Tapping into the power of community and camaraderie, we invited employees to show how they care for themselves and coworkers by taking a Working Together Pledge. Participation in this ongoing program jumped by 20% as coworkers and managers singled out colleagues for verbal recognition and a small monetary reward.

Our mental health campaign reminded employees that “It’s Okay” to take time to care for themselves and others.

With time on their hands and seeing others in crisis, many of our employees reached out in the only way available — through virtual volunteering. Individually and in teams, our talented people lent their skills to help nonprofits and community groups struggling to push through the pandemic.

Employees responded generously when we multiplied the impact of their giving through our COVID-19 Response and Relief Campaign, during which we provided a 2:1 match, up to $10,000 per employee, leveraging approximately $2.2 million in employee and company donations.
