BNY Mellon Wins Three Accolades at The Asset Triple A Awards

NOVEMBER 12, 2020

BNY Mellon took home three awards at The Asset Triple A Sustainable Investing Awards for Institutional Investor, ETF, and Asset Servicing Providers 2020 across custody and collateral management, further cementing the firm’s reputation for excellence as a provider of world-class services to its clients across the Asia Pacific region.

For the third consecutive year, BNY Mellon was named Best Global Custodian for International Clients, in recognition of its collaboration with various fintech partners, offering differentiated technology capabilities to clients in the region. The award also recognized BNY Mellon’s status as the first global custodian to provide onshore CNY exchange for Bond Connect.

“We are honored to be clinching the Best Global Custodian for International Clients award for three years running. This recognition underscores the breadth and depth of our asset servicing solutions and capabilities in the region, which is increasingly a magnet for global investors,” said Rohan Singh, Global Head of Asset Owners and Asia Pacific Head of Asset Servicing at BNY Mellon. “In times like these, we have remained nimble and flexible, leveraging our different market-leading capabilities and extensive strategic alliances to cater to our clients’ complex investment needs. The front to back unification of data remains central to our digitization journey, and with the launch of OMNISM, clients can now access our interconnected global network that brings together digital-driven solutions and tools across the investment process. Making our clients more efficient has always been critical to our success, and we will continue to position our clients for future growth and future-proof their business.”

In addition, BNY Mellon also received the Best Fund Administration Mandate for Alternatives for the work done with ADM Capital[1], a private credit manager that focuses upon environmental and social sustainability at the core of their investment process. “This win marks a timely reflection of the growth of private market investments in the region as asset owners increasingly diversify their portfolios to alternatives while keeping a focus on ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) investment principles,” said Mark Nelligan, Asia Pacific Head of Alternative Investment Services at BNY Mellon.

BNY Mellon was also recognized as Best in Collateral Management for the seventh consecutive year, citing strength and success — particularly in Japan and China — and highlighting client global connectivity of Japanese Trust Banks and Broker Dealers onto the collateral management platform.

Natalie Wallder, Asia Pacific Head of Clearance and Collateral Management at BNY Mellon, said: “Once again, we are delighted to receive this prestigious award, which demonstrates our preeminent position as a collateral manager in Asia Pacific, delivering best-in-class solutions for our clients. The success of our entire business is further enriched by the strength of our Asia Pacific franchise — under our ‘Future of Collateral’ initiative, we are continually working to enhance client trading connectivity as well as first to market product design and technological innovation, helping our clients mobilize and finance their assets in complex markets like Hong Kong Stock Connect, South Korea and Hong Kong Bond Connect with a soon to launch solution. We were first to market with our Hong Kong Stock Connect solution in January 2018 and have subsequently seen considerable balances and continued interest. It is exciting to see the evolution of the market first-hand and it is important that we stay at the forefront of innovation to provide our clients with all the tools they need in order to achieve success.”

Winners were honored in the first virtual awards ceremony held by The Asset for this set of awards on 27 October 2020.
