BNY Mellon Wins Global Custodian of the Year at the Global Investor MENA Awards

DECEMBER 8, 2020

BNY Mellon was named Global Custodian of the Year at the Global Investor MENA Awards 2020. The awards, in their eleventh year, recognize outstanding performance and achievement in asset management and servicing across the Middle East and North Africa region.

The judges highlighted BNY Mellon’s strategic alliance with NCB Capital, the largest custodian and asset manager in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, its global custody mandate for Abu Dhabi-based Chimera Capital’s Shariah-compliant index ETF, and the opening of its office in the Abu Dhabi Global Market as examples of its commitment and ongoing success in the region.

“Congratulations to our MENA team, whose considerable hard work has led to a number of significant accomplishments during this year despite the challenges caused by the global pandemic,” said Roman Regelman, BNY Mellon’s Chief Executive Officer of Asset Servicing and Head of Digital. “The MENA region is of key strategic importance to BNY Mellon. This recognition underscores the breadth and depth of our asset servicing solutions and capabilities in the region, and our ability to support clients’ evolving needs.”

BNY Mellon has been conducting business in the Middle East and Africa for over 100 years. It established its first office in the region in Beirut in 1963 and now has offices in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Egypt and Turkey. It has received conditional regulatory authorization from the Capital Markets Authority in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for BNY Mellon’s proposed KSA entity establishment. The opening of the Dubai branch in April 2008, which is regulated by the Dubai Financial Services Authority, created a regional management hub that is home to BNY Mellon’s local senior leadership team.
