During the same event, Hani Kablawi, Head of International at BNY Mellon, was named this year’s Industry Legend. The Legend award is one of Global Custodian’s highest accolades, recognizing individuals from across securities services for their key industry contributions.

As Microsoft’s custodian, BNY Mellon provides a complex cross-business bundle of services, including custody, collateral management, performance measurement and liquidity services – all of which support Microsoft's corporate cash portfolio needs. The transition to BNY Mellon marked the first time in almost a decade that Microsoft had changed custodians.

“Our strong relationship with Microsoft is a powerful validation of our strategy to reimagine the open platforms and innovation capabilities that will fuel our clients’ growth and profitability,” said Akash Shah, BNY Mellon Head of Strategy and Global Client Management. “Collaborating with one of the world’s most iconic companies – and one that is similarly reimagining the way it serves its own clients – is a validation of our team and vision and we look forward to deepening our innovation relationship going forward.”

BNY Mellon is committed to being the custody provider of choice for large asset owners and asset managers, providing solutions that protect investor portfolios while optimizing efficiency with a focus on excellent client service regardless of asset class or market.

Added Roman Regelman, BNY Mellon’s Chief Executive Officer of Asset Servicing and Head of Digital, "We were intent on delivering to Microsoft a customizable, cross-business solution that enables them to leverage our end-to-end digital solutions to help their Treasury continue to simplify its processes. We see this deal as part of a broader effort to help Microsoft, and the technology industry, increase operational efficiencies in their treasury operations and provide access to new investing opportunities. We are also tremendously gratified to see Hani recognized for his outstanding contributions over the years to advancing the industry, keeping BNY Mellon at the forefront and deepening our ability to support our clients.”
