BNY Mellon Makes CDP Climate Change 'A-List' for Ninth Consecutive Year

DECEMBER 8, 2021

The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation ("BNY Mellon") announced today that it has been named to the CDP Climate Change 'A-List' for the ninth consecutive year. The prestigious list recognizes exceptional leadership in corporate sustainability.

BNY Mellon secured a place on the ‘A-List' for its actions to reduce emissions, mitigate climate risks, and develop new and thoughtful climate-related initiatives. BNY Mellon is one of two U.S.-based financial services companies that earned the 'A' grade from CDP and is the only U.S.-based financial institution to earn this ranking from CDP for nine consecutive years.

Global environmental non-profit CDP's annual environmental disclosure and scoring process is widely recognized as the gold standard of corporate environmental transparency. This year, a record-breaking 13,000 companies responded to the climate change questionnaire, and BNY Mellon was one of 200 high-performing companies that made the list.

"We are proud once again to be included on the CDP Climate 'A-List' along with other companies working to lead the transition to a green economy and environmentally responsible industry," says Jolen Anderson, Global Head of Human Resources, BNY Mellon and ESG Executive Co-Sponsor. "Embedding an ESG lens in the way we conduct business provides us with a competitive advantage. As part of our Purpose Driven Growth Agenda, we continue to amplify our positive impact in the world and enable our clients to do the same. When we consider how ESG topics affect our business, it helps us better operate sustainably and responsibly, and better respond to the needs of our stakeholders, such as supporting clients in meeting their ESG goals."

"Leadership from the private sector is essential for securing global ambitions for a net-zero, nature positive, and equitable world. Our A-List celebrates those companies who are preparing themselves to excel in the economy of the future by taking action today," said Paul Simpson, CEO of CDP.
