Community Commitment in India

Community Commitment in India

Invested In Making A Difference

Caring about our communities is a cornerstone of BNY Mellon's philanthropic philosophy. Under the umbrella of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs we work with non-profit partners and invest in initiatives that make our communities better places to live and work.

Powering Potential, BNY Mellon's philanthropic focus, is designed to help others in need by concentrating on basic needs and workforce development. BNY Mellon has been working with its community partners since 2008 to provide food, clothing, energy and housing assistance to those who require immediate help.

In 2008, BNY Mellon India launched its employee volunteering and fundraising programme – “Community Partnership”. To encourage employee participation, the company offers incentives that include company matching donations, Paid Volunteer Time and employee recognition.

Through our Pathways Programme, we support graduate and post-graduate education to disadvantaged children. Since 2011, we have supported more than 300 children through various courses.

As per the Company Act, 2013, all Indian entities with an annual turnover of INR 1,000+ crore or net worth of INR 500+ crore or net profit of INR 5+ crore need to spend 2% of their average net profit in the previous three years on CSR activities. In keeping with this mandate, BNY Mellon India enhanced its already robust programme to support additional projects that include village development, water conservation, water purification, sanitation, digital literacy and women empowerment.
