Chief Risk Officer


John Johnston is the Chief Risk Officer for EMEA, based in London, reporting directly to the Chief Risk Officer. He is a member of the Risk & Compliance Executive Committee and the EMEA Chairman's Forum, whose main role is to oversee strategy, governance, business and control objectives relevant to the region. In this capacity, he is a director of several BNY Mellon legal entities.

Since joining BNY Mellon as a Credit Analyst in 1986, John has served in various risk management roles and was the EMEA and APAC Controller within Finance for four years during the merger between the Bank of New York and Mellon Bank, prior to returning to Risk Management in 2009.

John completed the professional examinations for The Chartered Institute of Bankers in Scotland in 1982.
