As Head of APAC Communications, Kyoko Altman leads the firm’s thought leadership initiatives and oversees external, internal and executive communication. Based in Hong Kong, she is a member of the APAC Operating Committee. Ms. Altman joined from Goldman Sachs Asset Management (GSAM) where she led strategic initiatives across the region with a focus on client prioritization, distribution management and government strategy.
Prior to GSAM, Ms. Altman worked as a correspondent and anchor for CNN, CNBC and as a news-magazine correspondent for Japan’s top-ranked news program, “News Station” on TV Asahi. She reported from over twenty countries and served as White House correspondent in the US, Europe correspondent in Paris and senior Asia Pacific correspondent based in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Tokyo. Major reports included the Gulf War, US Presidential elections, and China’s transition to capitalism. Interviews in Japan involved the country’s top business and political leaders including a prime minister.
Ms. Altman has an electrical engineering degree from Yale. She held two fellowships at Harvard at the Center for International Affairs Program on U.S.-Japan Relations and the Fairbank Center for Chinese Studies. She is the author of “Media and Politics in Japan: TV and Political Turmoil.”
