First-ever BNY Mellon Giving Tuesday Campaign Empowers Employees to Double Their Impact

NOVEMBER 30, 2021

BNY Mellon is hosting its first-ever Global Giving Tuesday Campaign and will double-match employees’ contributions to select nonprofits beginning November 30 through December 7. BNY Mellon employees can select one of the 14 high-impact charities to receive a 2:1 match, up to $10,000 USD, or the local equivalent. Employees can also donate to another eligible organization of their choice through BNY Mellon’s year-round matching program and receive the standard 1:1 company match up to $5,000 USD, or local equivalent.

Giving Tuesday was created in 2012 to encourage people to focus on compassion over consumption during the “Season of Giving.” The goal was to break through the shopping frenzy and inspire people to give back by supporting a worthy cause. The first Giving Tuesday was a great success and has since grown into a global movement that raised $2.47 billion for charities in 2020.

“Through donations or virtual volunteering, BNY Mellon employees are generous year-round”, said Daisey Holmes, Head of Global Impact Citizenship. “Our Global Giving Tuesday Campaign is an additional opportunity for us to supercharge their impact in the communities where they live and work.”

Philanthropy has been an essential part of the BNY Mellon culture since 1784. Soon after its founding, The Bank of New York made one of its first donations to the orphanage opened by Alexander Hamilton’s widow, Eliza Hamilton, which the company still supports today.

BNY Mellon remains dedicated to creating a positive impact on our communities and our world: rebuilding after crises, caring for the most vulnerable and marginalized in society, safeguarding the future of the planet and unlocking opportunity for all.
