Building Future-Proof Operating Models in Wholesale Transaction Banking
Payments and transactions were traditionally managed as an infrastructure topic by banks, but the financial crisis has, however, fundamentally changed this. It has brought to light the strategic importance and structural advantages these businesses can bring, but also reinforced competition and margin pressure. In order to better differentiate themselves, banks need to set up the next generation of operating models. To do so they will need to fundamentally rethink core versus non-core activities, operational synergies between retail and wholesale operations and their sourcing strategy.

CCPs for OTC Derivatives: The Right Answer or a Nightmare in the Making
With back offices being revamped and the OTC derivatives market gearing up for a big move to central clearing, are you ready? This session will focus on the opportunities and challenges related to OTC derivatives clearing, including the avalanche of CCPs that are popping up in multiple market centres. What is the best model? What is the right number of CCPs? Is there a risk of too many? Are there knock on implications to interoperability? As the role of CCP clearing continues to rise in Asia, what impact does this have on the OTC derivatives market globally? How can we manage the central clearing differences in Asia Pacific versus the Americas and EMEA? Can we leverage any synergies and share best practices across multiple markets?

Partnerships in Correspondent Banking: Creating Additional Value in Cross-Border Payments
In today's expanding global economy, the ability to optimize cross-border, multicurrency payments has become increasingly important to financial institutions and their customers. New FX conversion practices are providing revenue opportunities in the payments world while, at the same time, opening the door to stronger alliances and cooperation among correspondent bank partners. This session will focus on recent innovations, and discuss challenges and best practices. Attendees will learn how payment characteristics and market conditions can affect payment processing and revenue opportunities, and how to gain increased control over the variables inherent in cross-border payments.
