Newton Balanced Bridge Fund wins Best Balanced Managed Award
LONDON, 16 July, 2008 Newton Investment Management won a major award at the Investment Week Fund Manager of the Year Awards 2008 with the Newton Balanced Bridge Fund securing best fund in the Balanced Managed sector.
The Balanced Bridge Fund is predominantly weighted toward equities, with the remainder invested in cash, bonds and alternative products such as hedge funds, in order to reduce the overall volatility of the portfolio.
The Fund, which forms part of Newton's specialist portfolio management offering for private clients, is managed by lead manager Caroline Lindsay and alternate manager, Robert Hay who are both part of Newton's Private Investment Management team. The team manages £8.2bn on behalf of wealthy individuals, charities, trusts, personal pensions and smaller pension schemes.
The Investment Week Awards are designed to recognise and reward excellence in the UK investment industry. The judges use a combination of quantitative performance-based screens and qualitative factors to determine the winner.
Mark Rayward, Managing Director of Newton's Private Investment Management said, "Our performance over the last few years has been heavily influenced by Newton's investment themes which included debt and credit, global realignment and the networked world. We are delighted to win this prestigious award which recognises managers who have achieved consistent performance with low volatility."
