The Case for Global Thematic Investing

Helena Morrissey, CEO of Newton Investment Management, argues that today's successful investment managers need to have broad perspective, flexibility and a global approach to meeting investors' needs.

She espouses thematic investing, which at Newton is grounded in a theme entitled "all change." All change is Newton's shorthand for the pervasive de-leveraging trend that has been around since the financial crisis. This trend reinforces Newton's expectations for continued divergences between asset classes, sectors, currencies, commodities and particular companies – supporting the need for a flexible and global approach to investing.
