Charles Dolan currently serves as the Chief Investment Strategist for Fixed Income, Cash and Currency at BNY Mellon Investment Management. As a strategist he performs strategic investment research and joint theme development with our investment teams. Charlie works closely with our boutiques in fixed income, cash, currency and emerging markets. A veteran of 20 years in the asset management industry, he has worked in various capacities within BNY Mellon and its subsidiaries including: portfolio manager, product head and interim CIO of Dreyfus. Charlie also works closely with both the Manager Research and Investment Solutions groups at BNY Mellon Investment Management.
In 2006, Charlie founded Third Stage Investment Group, focusing on managing global bonds for large private endowments, while also serving as portfolio manager for the Global Fixed Income Strategy. He also served as the Director of Global Fixed Income for Standish Mellon Asset Management from 2004-2006, where he led the integration of two global bond investment teams.
Earlier in his career, Charlie was employed at the Hughes Aircraft Radar Systems Group and Hughes Research Laboratories, working on advanced decision aid technology for 17 years.
Charlie received his Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics/Computer Science, Masters of Science in Computer Science, and Ph.D in Computer Science/Machine Intelligence from the University of California, Los Angeles. Currently, he is professionally associated with a number of organizations, including the CFA Institute, IEEE, Association for the Advancement Artificial Intelligence, and Cognitive Science Society.
