Karen B. Peetz

Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Financial Markets and Treasury Services

Karen Peetz is a Vice Chairman with responsibility for the Financial Markets and Treasury Services group within BNY Mellon, which is the corporate brand of The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation (NYSE:BK). The businesses that make up this group — treasury services, corporate trust, depositary receipts, clearing services (Pershing), broker-dealer clearing, collateral management and alternative investment services — represent more than forty percent of the company's revenue. Each of these businesses commands a leading global market position and ranks among the company's most visible and best-performing franchises.

Since joining the company in 1998 to run the domestic corporate trust business, Karen has progressively expanded her business line responsibility. The organization she leads today serves clients globally and includes 17,000 employees located in 76 cities, 40 of which are outside of the United States.

Karen is a member of BNY Mellon's Executive Committee, the organization's most senior management body, which oversees day-to-day operations. She is the chairperson for the company's Women's Initiatives Network (WIN), which acts as a global resource for the professional development and advancement of women who work at BNY Mellon through chapters in 50 locations globally.

Before joining BNY Mellon, Karen spent sixteen years with JPMorgan Chase in a variety of sales and business management positions, including an assignment in London.

She has consistently been named among American Banker's "25 Most Powerful Women in Banking." In 2011, Karen ranked #1 in this survey, which is based on the nominee's job responsibility, management style, crisis management skills, influence within the industry and charitable endeavors.

Karen is Chairman of the Pennsylvania State University's Board of Trustees. She is also a member of the Financial Services Roundtable and is on the Board of Directors for SIFMA, the Private Export Funding Corporation (PEFCO), and SunCoke Energy. Karen is the former Chair of the Board for United Way of New York City.

She received a Bachelor of Science degree from the Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Science degree from Johns Hopkins University.
