As Vice Chairman, Don Monks oversees an operations and technology organization that provides servicing to financial institutions, corporations and high-net-worth individuals worldwide. In this role, Mr. Monks is responsible for BNY Mellon's operations, technology and software development, business continuity planning and corporate services, the latter of which includes security and facilities management. He is also head of the global effort to integrate the people, technology and capabilities of The Bank of New York Company, Inc. and Mellon Financial Corporation. BNY Mellon is the corporate brand of The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation (NYSE:BK).
Prior to the merger in July 2007, Mr. Monks held a similar position as The Bank of New York's Chief Administrative Officer, manager of operations and technology and a member of the company's Senior Policy Committee.
During more than three decades with the company and its predecessor organization, Mr. Monks has directed key functions and become recognized globally as a leader in shaping the evolution of the payments and securities servicing industries as well as in developing industry protocols for infrastructure resilience and business continuity. He is a representative to the Financial Services Roundtable and serves on the advisory board of BITS, its sister organization that focuses on issues related to emerging technology. He is also Chairman of the Federal Reserve's Payments System Risk Advisory Committee as well as Treasurer and member of the Executive Committee of the U.S. Council for International Business.
